T he Walking Dead’s Season 8 premi and 100th overall episode will be bigger than most — literally.
Episode 8×01 of the AMC series is scheduled to run from 9 pm ET to 10:0 pm ET, giving in a 67 minute run time, including commercials. The episode wi be followed by a massive, live two-hou episode of Talking Dead from the Gree Theater in Los Angeles.
In reality, the Season 8 premiere will b following a trend set by several episod in Season 7 of The Walking Dead. For example, the midseason 7 premiere ra for 73 minutes, directly followed by episodes airing for 66 minutes and 68 minutes, respectively. The Season 7 premiere ran for just one minute short than the Season 8 premiere is schedul for, with a 66-minute slot allocated to fulfilling Negan’s introduction 364 days before Episode 100.
The Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead is directed by executive producer and VFX guru Greg Nicotero, who also directed the Season 7 premiere and fin episodes, with a few more in between.
“This season, Rick brings ‘All Out War’ Negan and his forces,” the Season 8 synopsis reads. “The Saviors are larger better-equipped, and ruthless — but Ri and the unified communities are fighti for the promise of a brighter future. T battle lines are drawn as they launch i a kinetic, action-packed offensive.”
