EABL launches cheap liquor for Kenyans

NAIROBI (Xinhua) — East African Breweries (EABL) on Thursday launched a 0.25 U.S. dollar alcoholic beverage for low end market segment to boost the fight against consumption of lethal drinks in the east African nation.

EABL managing director Joe Muganda said that the new brand has passed rigorous quality standards and is part of long-term response to the menace of illicit brews that have killed and maimed thousands of Kenyans.

“As the leading manufacturer of safe, quality and standardized alcoholic beverages in Kenya, EABL is deeply concerned about the senseless loss of lives resulting from consumption of deadly illicit brews,” Muganda said.
