Yeast Infection is caused by the overgrowth of a type of yeast called Candida, Candida Albicans. Yeast infection normally affects genital organs, mainly the Vagina in women.
It is found in small amounts in the human body especially in warm, moist body areas. Oral Candidiasis affects the mouth or throat while invasive candidiasis affects the blood stream.
Women experience itching in the vagina, soreness and redness, discharge a white, clumpy vaginal discharge and a painful intercourse.
Men who are uncircumcised have a high infection rate. Men have a red rash on the penis and experience itching or burning on the tip.
Yeast Infection is usually treated by a single-dose of antifungal medication, fluconazole (Difluca) or by using antifungal creams and ointments. Lifestyle changes can also cure yeast infection.
